Arcane Echo + Diversion = FTW
If they're not using any tanks who are being smited, just run off. Don't stay in groups & Use Healing Seed.

Assuming you can kill one (or they kill one of you...) You can drop Well of the Profane (also assuming they don't have a Necromancer with putrid explosion) Then you could take out almost all of their enchantments in one cast if they're bunched or not watching where they're walking. Coupled with Diversion, you could shut them down pretty quickly.

Why would you waste 15 mana to arcane echo a spell with a 6 sec duration and a 5sec recast =/ seem like a big waste to me

if you take one target, and use rigor/weaken armor/lingering/parasitic bond (as a buffer), coupled with rend when he uses an enchant... you should be able to take at least one down. then WoP and try to stay inside it. healing seed owns BA if you use it right - it turns a BA aoe into a massive healing aoe.

You arcane echo the diversion, then use both diversions on multiple smiters to shut down their skills. You could throw in Echo for more madness.

most of these monk teams will clump up, making skills like meteor, meteor shower, maelstrom very effective against their heal party. they also sync smite signets and maybe have a warrior for balth's aura. so primal echoes and maybe panic.

OMG, a use for primal echos? No..... Spirits are worthless now I thought.
Not to mention, one heal completely ruins their signet spikes.

3 mesmer/necros with curses
Diversion + Rend and Just play smart. Usually they try to smite off warriors with Zealots + Balth's warriors need to be rended on sight, and monk primaries should be diversioned/drained. The e/mo's are easy to take down, once you have a few down drop Frozen Soil, and continue to chip away at them. I know it's easier to say it, but it can (and has) been done. Rangers do well here, with the ability to interrupt and DoT their party, drop frozen, etc. You won't spike a smite team to death unless they suck. I have been working with a spinal shivers mesmer/necro build that seems to have potential against smiters... when my guild and i have tested it, we'll let you know if it works.

Well, I've played in an 8 Monk Smiting team and won HoH with it, so I can offer some insight We ran 8 monks with 16 smiting, that makes for a nice 640 HP spike with Signet of Judgment (AoE). No way to outheal that with one heal and even if so, it was immediately followed by Banish for another ~400 damage. Bane Signet was our third damage dealer. 6 monks were heal/prot, one was a ranger with Quickening Zephyr (pre nerf) and one necro with Putrid (also pre nerf). It was a lot of fun to play the build, we got at least 8% on the Unworthy every time, some 10% as well.
Although we won a lot, we also lost several fights because of Fertile Season which (as we all know) owned any kind of spike group. I guess with that threat gone, it won't work too bad at all now again, but on the other hand Protective Spirit owns it as well if they guess the right target. When defending HoH we lost to Primal Echoes, it really was the major counter along with Fertile.
So I don't think multiple Balthazar's will turn the trick, but you can build around 8 monks and have fun with it and actually win.

Diversion, Well of profane, Rend enchantments, Lingering curse. All those work well on smiters

Run multiple copies of fear me and throw a primal echos far back and you're set.
